For thousands of years Egyptian mummies have been destroyed to make paint, ground up as medicine or unwrapped in public displays. The mummified corpse of Anchhor, one of the few mummies that have been recovered fully intact, has been the object of an elaborate scientific investigation by the National Museum of Antiquities in the Netherlands, one of the world's leading centers of expertise in Egyptology and home to one of the largest collections of mummies in the world.

Anchhor was an Egyptian priest who lived in 650 B.C. in the ancient city of Thebes, now known as Luxor. Anchhor was a member of the Bes- en-Mut family, celebrated for their work as priests. Thanks to some new discoveries it is now possible to reconstruct his life and times, using a combination of excavated objects, location filming, interviews and 3D-animation techniques. In this documentary we trace Anchhor's footsteps, following this Egyptian priest not only in life, but also in death. We witness his burial and the passing of time while he lies entombed in Thebes until his discovery at the beginning of the 19th century near Deir el-Bahri, in the Valley of the Kings. Anchhor wanted to be remembered forever. So far, he has managed to survive more than 2,500 years.
