This film explores the stories of three adult children who have returned to live with their parents. It captures the day-to-day lives of the subjects and their families over a nine-month period as they grapple with current struggles, future dreams, and past failures.

Through conversations, anecdotes, and arguments, In My Parents’ Basement sheds light on the issues triggered when adult children move back home. It shows the trials and tribulations of Bob, an articulate thirty-four-year-old who has lived with his parents for two years and shows no signs of moving out, Nancy, a forty-two-year-old who shares a basement with her grandmother while trying to get her pet grooming business off the ground, and young married couple Denise and David, who have moved in with Denise’s parents to save money for a house.

In My Parents’ Basement reflects a growing phenomenon in modern society and showcases the patience, compassion, and strength necessary to maintain strong family relationships through difficult times.
