Taslima Nasreen, Bangladesh writer, gained international attention when Islamic leaders issued a fatwa calling for her death. As with Salman Rushdie, there is a large reward for whoever kills her. Ms. Nasreen is one of the few women in her country who have dared to call for more freedom for the women of Bangladesh.

The film presents an exclusive interview with Ms. Nasreen who has fled her country and is in hiding. She has left behind huge demonstrations against her and a Bangladesh police warrant for her arrest. The film puts her story in the context of the conditions suffered by women in Bangladesh. We also hear from Begum Zia, the premier of Bangladesh, who surprisingly is a woman.

"Of special interest to women's studies departments... a catalyst for discussion."
