This
Time, Next Time outlines the frightening and irreversible effects that alcohol
consumption can have on the brain. It shows that alcohol related brain damage
(ARBD) is not limited to old men on skid row. It happens to educated, middle
class people who think they are only drinking "socially."
The film cleverly interweaves documentary material of actual doctors, health workers and ARBD patients with a powerful dramatic narrative centered around a journalist. Paula is researching a story on premature birth, when she discovers a baby with fetal alcohol syndrome born to a mother with ARBD. As her research continues, she beings to realize that her own husband may be suffering from alcohol related brain damage.
The film has been highly acclaimed in Australia, where medical research and treatment of ARBD is very advanced. It should have a high impact on alcohol abuse education in this country.
